Sep 03, 2017 am - If you read Matthew, chapters 23-25, you'll see they closely resemble the Old Testament prophets. In Chapter 23, our Lord pronounces seven curses on Jerusalem; they are the curses of the Old Covenant, found first in Deuteronomy 28 and Leviticus 26, and reiterated by the prophets, on nearly every page of their writings, Isaiah 5, for example- Woe to those who rise early in the morning that they may follow intoxicating drink. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. Woe to those who justify men for a bribe. In Matthew 24, Christ foretells that the curses of God will result in the destruction of Jerusalem and its Temple. This recalls Jeremiah at length, and, more briefly, Micah 3:12- Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the Temple like the bare hills of the forest. Then, in Matthew 25, we see the Divine judgment is not limited to time and space, but will endure forever, as God separates the sheep from the goats, welcoming the former into His Presence and casting the latter into everlasting fire. This recalls the Resurrection of Shame Daniel spoke of in Chapter 12 of his prophecy, and is almost word-for-word the last lines ... More >>>
